§ 10-43. Limitation of animals.

  • (a)

    No person shall keep or permit more than three dogs or cats or combination thereof to be or remain in or about any single-family residence.

    (b)

    No person shall keep or permit more than one dog or cat to be or remain in or about any unit of a multifamily residence, condominium or townhouse.

    (c)

    Any number in excess of subsections (a) and (b) of this section shall be constituted as a kennel and must be licensed, inspected and properly zoned.

    (d)

    If, at the time of adoption of the ordinance from which this chapter is derived the owner possesses animals in excess of the acceptable number, he shall not be required to dispose of such excess animals. However, when any excess animals may die or be disposed of, the owner may not replace any animal which would again create an excess of animals.
