§ 10-50. Leash or fence required.

  • (a)

    No person shall cause or permit any dog or cat to be out-of-doors on private property unless such animal is restrained by a fence or leash. The length of the leash shall not allow the animal to enter onto any public way or adjacent private property, nor to be within five feet of any area dedicated for public street, parkway or sidewalk use.

    (b)

    No person shall cause or permit any dog or cat to be on any public way or public place, or in the area surrounding any building occupied by two or more families within the village, unless such animal is restrained by a chain or leash not exceeding six feet in length or the person in control or custody of the dog or cat shall take whatever means necessary so as to prevent such animal from running at large or biting any person or animal.
