§ 50-253. Regulations.

  • (a)

    No rummage, garage or like sale where the same entails the use of sidewalks or public parkways for the display and handling of merchandise at the sale shall be held in the village by any person not otherwise engaged in such business without first obtaining a permit for such sale from the clerk. Such permit shall issue without fee upon application therefor, which application shall give the date and hours of sale together with the location thereof and the general nature of the articles to be offered for sale.

    (b)

    No person shall be issued a permit for the holding of a rummage, garage or like sale wherein use of the sidewalks or public parkways is made for the handling or display of the goods or merchandise to be sold more often than once in each calendar year.

    (c)

    In any rummage, garage or other like sale wherein use of the sidewalk or public parkways is made in the handling and display of the goods or merchandise offered for sale, provisions shall be made so as not to unduly obstruct the use of the sidewalks or public parkways by persons other than those engaged in or attending the sale. No such sales shall commence before the hour of 8:00 a.m. nor extend beyond the hour of 8:00 p.m.
