Chapter 14. BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS |
Article I. IN GENERAL |
§ 14-3. Certificate of compliance.
(a)
No building hereafter erected or structurally altered shall be occupied and used until a certificate of compliance shall be issued by the building inspector. The certificate of compliance shall be issued only after the building inspector makes a finding that the building has been erected or structurally altered in conformance with the provisions of this chapter and other health and building laws and in accordance with the building permit.
(b)
The certificate of compliance shall be applied for coincident with the application for a building permit, and shall be issued within ten days after the erection or alteration of such building shall have been satisfactorily completed. A record of all certificates shall be kept on file in the office of the building inspector and copies shall be furnished, on request, to any person having a proprietary interest or tenancy interest in the building affected. A fee of $2.00 shall be charged for each original certificate and $1.00 for each copy thereof.
(c)
A certificate of compliance shall be issued only by the building inspector and only after the building department has made inspections, including rough inspections, during each phase of the construction process as it occurs as well as the inspection of the completed building.
